D: Pastor Waters, it is an honor to talk with you about your book. I was thrilled to have had the opportunity to meet with you and other members of your congregation on your prayer line when you invited me to tell my testimony to your group. That evening was a blessing for me and I enjoyed the fellowship and your warm welcome to me during that time.
In your ministry to married couples, you have presented your message of love for Christian marriages in a variety of settings from conferences to classes and workshops for personal counseling. Why did you choose to tell your message now in book form?
V: I decided to share my message in book form because it will be able to reach more people. Going to conferences and workshops is great but you may not remember everything that was taught.
D: When you summarize your book, you always begin with the first book of the bible, Genesis, where we first learn about Adam and Eve. So they were literally the first married couple, right?
V: Yes ma’am, they are the first married couple.
D: What inspired the title of this book? Because it sure caught my attention!
V: I wanted to have a title that would grab the attention. When you look at the title most people may think that it is all about sex but as you know, it definitely is not.
D: Not to give it completely away, but F.R.E.A.K. is an acronym. Do you mind letting our readers know what one of the letters stands for?
V: R-Righteous, most people don’t think of sex as being a righteous act but it absolutely is: especially when it is shared between a husband and wife, and especially when it is of the household of faith.
D: Okay readers, I know you’re intrigued, but you’ll have to read the book to learn the meaning of the rest of the letters!
Who do you think would benefit most from reading your book? Who is your target audience?
V: My target audience is anyone who is married or planning to get married.

This book was written to encourage married couples to celebrate the gift of becoming one flesh, being naked and not ashamed, and really really enjoying sexual intimacy.
Bonus chapters are included to share about other aspects of marriage including Dr. Vicki’s personal testimony.
D: My husband and I have been married for over 40 years, and we snuggled up together with your book and truly enjoyed your strategies for godly marital sexual intimacy.
Is there a primary goal or message that you hope your readers learn from the book?
V: My prayer is that my audience will truly understand what God intended marriage to be and also that the book will encourage couples who may be struggling. To give them hope that marriage is a wonderful thing ordained by God.
D: The topic of sex is not easily discussed, especially not in Christian communities. What sort of feedback have you received about the way you so openly talk about marital sexual intimacy?
V: I have received some excellent feedback. People are loving the openness because, to your point, sex is not really taught a lot in church.
D: You interviewed your husband in your book. He clearly supports your ministry and I find it interesting that you both work together. How is that going?
V: Yes, I interviewed him. It is one of my favorite chapters. We both love God and we love each other. We feel that we are called to this ministry to help couples.
D: I am so grateful that I have a husband who is always by my side and supports all of my many and varied projects. I truly thank God for him.
What are your future goals for ministry?
V: This year we plan to start doing “in-person” meetings for married and engaged couples and I am planning to work on my 2nd book.
