About Debra Hill

Ephesians 3:20-21

“Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”

God will do exceedingly, above and beyond anything you can ask or think. With God, you know you have love in your life. God’s Love is above what you can imagine in your Mind’s Eye, exceptional, unique, boundless, multi-dimensional, abundant love. Accessible to all. You have abundant love, you are worthy and it should not be withheld, it is for the giving and for the taking.

Embark on a journey through my vibrant world—a world painted with the strokes of words, the cadence of inspiration, and the harmony of music. I am a blind writer, motivational speaker, and musician who finds purpose in sharing stories, spreading positivity, and creating melodies that resonate with the heart and soul.

The Commitment to Self, “I DO!” Women’s Conference

I had a fabulous time at the Commitment to Self, “I DO!” Women’s Conference on Saturday, January 11th. Sharing my testimony in words, vision, and music with over 50 women was truly a blessing! I hope that each attendee heard something that will encourage them to find strength and faith to face life’s difficult challenges, knowing God’s abundant love is available to everyone.

I personally want to thank Michelle Moore, founder of Positive Advantage and the nonprofit Be Bold. Be Brave. Believe. and her team for reaching out and asking me to be the keynote speaker for her first annual women’s conference. She, along with the other speakers, shared words of encouragement, strength, and positivity!

WORDS to INSPIRE

In the realm of the written word, my imagination knows no bounds. Despite my visual impairment, I believe words have the power to paint pictures in the minds of readers. Through my words, I strive to break down barriers and shed light on the beauty of diversity and the strength of the human spirit.

  • Kingdoms Rise and Fall
Chapter nine is a defiant shout of David in the face of heathen nations. Just as he did to Goliath, he boldly declares the marvelous works of God. With his whole heart, he sings praises and sees his enemies turned back and destroyed. A Christian life is described as a spiritual warfare. Sometimes, when I am in the midst of this battle, being bombarded on all sides by enemies, it feels like the battle will never end. But in chapter nine, David reminds me to rejoice in my salvation. He rebukes the enemy and has faith that God will give him mercy. God has proven this to be true for me, and through it all, I have learned I can depend on him.
  • How Great Thou Art
In the beginning of Psalm chapter eight, David proclaims the greatness of God. When I reflect on the ways mankind has abused, neglected and ravaged our planet, I feel we should all be reminded that all life around us, from the planets to the rivers, mountains and forests, was lovingly created for us by God. I pray that we do better to honor this gesture by cherishing and preserving God’s miraculous creation. And that includes the one that was made in His image, mankind. Let’s take good care of each other.
  • Virginia is for Lovers
Ironically, it was the couple with the surname Loving who helped to make interracial marriage legal in Virginia. Loving v. Virginia is a landmark, historic case. Richard and Mildred, in the 1950s, challenged the state’s law forbidding black and white individuals from marrying. Their civil rights fight lasted several years, but culminated in their success.

  • Repentance leads to Restoration
God welcomes me back with open arms, for He says, “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. (Hebrews 4:16)” What joy it is to be reunited with my Father and continue to walk each day in His love, grace and mercy.
  • National SAFE Day
For National SAFE Day, I wanted to share an event I have coming up on Friday June 6th, from 5:00pm-8:00pm. I am excited to join Hopewell/Petersburg Loving Steps at the Bridging The Gap community outreach event focusing on the impact of gun violence. As a part of my Color Love Project, I will distribute Crayola Crayons and sample illustrative pages from my new book, Today and Forever: A Narrative Coloring Book.
  • God Is Not Your Average King
When I pray to God, just as David did, I want to acknowledge that He is a God of love, grace, and mercy. Sometimes my cries come from a place of frustration, hurt or anger. But God helps me to see through His word and the actions of Jesus how He would respond to every situation.

  • Keep Smiling 🙂
Even though I cannot see your smile, when I hear the lovely, warm, welcoming tone of your voice, I know you are smiling at me. Of course, I smile back at you.Keep smiling and enjoy this lyrical reminder from Kirk Franklin.
  • Set Apart
David begins this Psalm with a thanks to God for His mercy. I also thank God that I can come boldly to His throne of grace to obtain mercy, especially when I fall short of righteousness. I know that He shines His light on me and that He has set me apart to be in a relationship with Him.

  • Thank you for the birthday wishes!
Age doesn’t matter to a dog! Isn’t Bentley cute? Thank you all for the birthday wishes!
  • Help
One thing I admire about King David is that he exudes almost every emotion possible. In Psalm chapter three, he describes disdain for the thousands of enemies who surround him, then tells how he cried out to the Lord for help.
  • Celebrate My Birthday!
I face my birthday with jubilation. I throw my hands in the air and dance around the room, shouting for joy and singing. I am just so happy to be alive and blessed. My faith in God will continue to sustain me throughout the days of my life, and keep me singing my song, “Celebrate My Birthday!” I thank you all for your well-wishes for me today and always.
