Take the Time to Love Your Eyes in 2025
March: Save your Vision Month. Feb 28th: Rare Eye Disease Day.
Today, February 28th, marks Rare Eye Disease Day. It is a chance to bring awareness to the variety of conditions that can and do impact people’s sight. However, it’s not so rare to have problems with your eyes. Tomorrow begins Save Your Vision Month. So many of us are going to experience age-related conditions like cataracts and macular degeneration. Start now, especially if you are young, to love your eyes, take care of them, and pay attention to visual indicators of something that might be going awry. You may be able to prevent eye problems in the future.
I thank God that He supports me and so many others who have lost their sight in navigating life. While it is a frightening and devastating situation, we are grateful that through the years, due to technology, research, psychological and emotional support, and friends, family, and others, life can be full and wonderful as you live your passions with impaired sight.
However, I encourage you to take advantage now of the resources and help you need to take care of your eyes. There are so many organizations like the American Council of the Blind of Virginia, whose mission is “to bring together Virginians who are blind or have low vision, and to partner with others, to create opportunities for friendship, personal growth, independence, community, education, employment, and advocacy.” Don’t hesitate to contact them today for more information.
