The Bible Is Your Polestar

Congratulations as you embark on your new journey in life. You are setting sail for lands and experiences unknown. I imagine your excitement and anticipation as you dream of your future; whether it be on a college campus or in a work setting. Perhaps you are also experiencing some anxiety as well, as you wonder what challenges and pitfalls await on the journey ahead.
The good news is you have been well-prepared to independently navigate your way. As a child, you went to Sunday School, sang songs about Jesus, and learned amazing Bible stories. These activities served to build your knowledge and faith, instilling in you Christian values for life. As you grew and even questioned some principles, you were developing critical thinking skills to guide your moral and social choices. The Bible will always be your compass, but you choose the direction you will take. No matter how well prepared you are, you know the unexpected will occur. Like a storm-tossed ship at sea, your plans can be swept away by forces beyond your control. You may find yourself in the middle of chaotic winds of change or anxiety-filled situations. What will you do in the middle of your storm?
Open your Bible and read Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” When faced with hard times, uncertainties, mistakes, tough decisions, fears, and heartbreaks, look to Jesus. You are never alone. Pray. Find others who can pray with you and support your strong faith. You can weather through the storm. So many people in your life are proudly waving you on to faraway lands. Knowing you have a strong foundation in the word of God that will guide you each day, be the weather foul or fair, brings them inner comfort and peace.
