The 2026 Graduate Shine Award Winners

The 2026 Graduate Shine Award Winners
Yes, you read that right. This year, the Graduate Shine Committee is delighted to announce two recipients of the 2026 award: Zoie Branch and Ra’Siyah Smith!
These awards were presented on Friday, May 22nd at Varina High School. We were pleased to have the school present them to the winners alongside the other presented scholarships and certificates of recognition for outstanding graduates.
The Graduate Shine Award is given to a student who shares their story of facing and overcoming adversities on their road to successful completion of high school. Each applicant submitted a 500-word essay, and the 10-person committee carefully reviewed each submission and chose the deserving students.
We wish both young women continued success and know they will continue to let their lights shine in all their future endeavors.
Thanks to the Graduate Shine Committee Members this year for your diligent commitment to selecting our winners. Your support is greatly appreciated. Special thanks to Kindra Hill, for your excellent administration each year to communicate with high school counselors, coordinate efforts of the committee, and finalize the Graduate Shine Award recognition.
