Worthy Praise

A Psalm of David.
[1] Give unto the LORD, O ye mighty, give unto the LORD glory and strength.
[2] Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name;
Worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.
[3] The voice of the LORD is upon the waters:
The God of glory thundereth:
The LORD is upon many waters. [4] The voice of the LORD is powerful;
The voice of the LORD is full of majesty.
[5] The voice of the LORD breaketh the cedars;
Yea, the LORD breaketh the cedars of Lebanon.
[6] He maketh them also to skip like a calf;
Lebanon and Sirion like a young unicorn.
[7] The voice of the LORD divideth the flames of fire.
[8] The voice of the LORD shaketh the wilderness; the LORD shaketh the wilderness of Kadesh.
[9] The voice of the LORD maketh the hinds to calve, and discovereth the forests:
And in his temple doth every one speak of his glory.
[10] The LORD sitteth upon the flood;
Yea, the LORD sitteth King for ever.
[11] The LORD will give strength unto his people;
The LORD will bless his people with peace.
Worthy Praise
It is written that David danced so fervently for the Lord that his clothing actually fell off his body (2 Samuel 6). He must have given all his might and strength to give praise and reverence to God. Here, in Psalm 29, David instructs almighty men to do the same (29:1). Three times he commands them to โgive unto the Lordโ (29:1-2). It is as if David is reminding mighty men that all that they are, their strength and their glory, comes from the Lord and must be given back to him. For He is worthy of the glory (1 Chronicles 29:11 / Revelation 5:12-13). Also, David tells them to worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness (29:2).
David beholds beauty in the acts, rituals and obedient behaviors which honor righteousness. David continues by describing how God reveals his presence in the natural world he created. The grandeur of Godโs voice is in the thunder, on the waters (29:3). Godโs majestic, powerful voice is strong enough to break the cedar trees, divide flames of fire, and shake the wilderness (29:4-8). In the natural world, โand in His temple doth every one speak of His gloryโ (29:9). David recalls the flood, which God sitteth upon, proving He is King forever of man and all creation (29:10). God renews life to His people and gives them strength and peace (29:11).
All praise, glory and honor to the Most High God, my Savior and my King. He is my Healer, my Deliverer, my Strength, my Comforter. He brings me joy and peace. He provides for all my needs. He protects me and provides opportunities for my success. He loves me so much He gave His son, Jesus, to die for me (John 3:16). Like David, I want to praise and worship the Lord with all my heart, mind, soul and strength (Luke 10:27). Let His praises be continually in my mouth (Psalm 34:1).
