Today and Forever: A Narrative Coloring Book, Out NOW!
During the tumultuous beginning of our nation’s battle with COVID, our Nation highlighted the impact this disease was having on our Youth. In particular, the news focused on their struggles and fears in new academic environments, homes, isolation, and mental anxieties. However, I was impressed with the resilience of our Youth as they continued to reach their academic achievements and personal goals.
I founded The Graduate Shine Award to acknowledge the strength and perseverance of these amazing and talented Youths who went on to graduate even during these challenging years. It is my honor and privilege to present this monetary award each year to one deserving student who has demonstrated how they have overcome adversities and challenges.
This award was presented on Thursday, May 8th, at Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School. We were pleased to join other award organizations that presented scholarships and certificates of recognition to outstanding graduates. Please read and admire Brielle’s submission, which made her the top choice of this year’s pool.
In 2019, I founded the Graduate Shine Award, a private scholarship for graduating seniors. This scholarship acknowledges the winner’s enormous efforts in the face of adversity. The recipient receives a certificate and a $500.00 award.
