The American Council of the Blind of Virginia (ACBVA) Supports Blind Veterans
On March 28, The American Council of the Blind of Virginia (ACBVA) applauded Veterans at the Blind Veterans Day Symposium. ACBVA proudly supported blind and low-vision veterans by sharing information about our organization and our services.
The Blind Veterans Association, Blind Rehabilitation Program, ACBVA along with approximately 10 organizations spent the day honoring and recognizing veterans and acknowledging the critical needs and issues related to blind and low vision.
Debra Hill, a member, Board of Director, and two volunteers, my husband, Kinley Hill; a new member of ACBVA, and my friend, Maria West; ran the table, greeted, and answered questions from participants.

I also thank my daughter Phoenecia Hill, for copying our handouts and creating the sign-in sheets. I would like to thank my niece Shakira Coleman, a new member of ACBVA, who designed and ordered our ACBVA table banner which I donated.
The book, Blurred Vision, written by low-vision author and fellow member of ACBVA, Judith Goode Kirby, was donated for a drawing at this event. The author will contact the winner and others who signed up for the drawing. Her inspirational book about living with low vision can be purchased at: https://a.co/d/bnKkJ8G
We thank the veterans who came out with their friends and family and welcome future opportunities to be of service through our board, members, and volunteers.
Thanks everyone for all you did to make our participation in the March 28 Blind Veterans Day Symposium a success.
